"Paleozoologist and geologist, founder of Warsaw school of
paleontology. In 1913-1922 Professor and Director of the
Mining Engineers' School in Oruro (Bolivia). Since 1927,
Professor of Warsaw University, organizer (1952) and Head
(since 1961) of the Department of Paleobiology PAS. Author
of papers on paleontology and geology of Bolivia, many classical
research papers in paleozoology -particularly classical research
papers on Paleozoic graptolites and brachiopods -of great
importance to the development of research on fossil
invertebrates. Awarded British Wollaston Medal (1961).
Awarded the 1st Class StateAward (1949). In recognition of
the scientific achievements of Profesor Roman Koz這wski in the
field of paleontological research, the Institute of Paleobiology
PAS, a leading Polish scientific researchinstitiuon conducting the
research into the history of life on Earth, bears the name of
Professor Roman Koz這wski."
